Viman Nagar acquired its name from the fact that it is only half a kilometre away from the Pune airport. With complexes such as Mhada Colony, Rajiv Nagar South, and Kargil Vijay Nagar, it is also regarded as one of Pune's upscale areas. It is bordered on the north by Pune Airport, on the west by Sanjay Park, on the south by Kargil Vijay Nagar, and on the east by Tata Nagar.
